It has been such of fun Christmas for our family, but we really missed Nick, Abby and Bentley. We will be seeing them next week though. Christmas is always such a fun time, especially when there are little grandkids around. They are the ones that make Christmas extra special. We are so thankful for our wonderful kids and their families. We love them all so much.

Addison's Blessing Day

The first of December we were able to be with Bryson and Kristen for the blessing of their cute little girl, Addie. We had such a wonderful time. All of our kids were there for part of the weekend. Nick, Abby and Bentley were in SLC for Abby's twin brothers wedding. Josh, Mickell, Halle and JT also came up for the blessing. We all were able to be together Friday before Nick and Abby had to leave. Saturday we went to Temple Square to look at all the Christmas lights. It was so pretty. It has been a long time since we have been able to see Temple Square at Christmas. It was a great weekend.

Newport Beach - August 2008

In August we took the family to Newport Beach for a week. We had such a great time. Our kids just love the beach. We rented a beach house for everyone to stay in. Everyone was there but Bryson and Kristen. They were waiting the arrival of their new baby daughter. We spent time on the beach, went to Disneyland and of course the girls had to do some shopping at the great malls they have there in Newport.

Carrie Underwood

">

Isn't it amazing how far Carrie has come and to still have the class that she has? We don't see that everyday. What a great role model to everyone to show that money isn't everything and that we should be grounded and have a sense of direction in our lives. She will always be our favorite American Idol. And what a great compliment from Simon!

Turks & Caicos

Well, let me tell you about our great trip to Turks and Caicos!! When we arrived at the Beaches Resort, they took us back into the office of the manager where they sat us down at a table. I was thinking to myself I don't remember this being a timeshare property, and wondering what Kent and Doug were thinking and what I had gotten them into. Well, the hotel manager went on to explain that they had had a problem with the computers and had overbooked the hotel. Well we just laughed and waited to hear what they were going to do. First of all they were moving us for one night down the beach a little ways to the Sands Resort. Then they said they would pick us up the next day. So we were all thinking ok that's not too bad. Well then they told us when we got back the next day they would be upgrading our rooms to the Governors Suite, giving us credits at the spa and booking us on the Kitty Kat for snorkeling! Wow, we couldn't believe it. It just kept getting better and better. So they took us over to the Sands Resort where we checked in. We had really nice rooms there too, but not as nice as at Beaches. We ate dinner and we ordered the most expensive things on the menu, because Beaches was picking up the bill!! In the morning we had breakfast then called the Beaches hotel manager (he gave us his cell number) to come pick us up. When we got there our rooms weren't ready yet so we went down to the beach for a little bit. Doug and Kent went back to check on our rooms and came back to the beach to get us and show us the rooms. Well, needless to say we were blown away. The rooms were awesome. They were two bedrooms with two decks that looked out at one of the pools and ocean. We couldn't believe it.
Beaches Resort is an all-inclusive. Everything is already paid for. From the food, drinks, and water sports, including diving. Everyday someone would come to our room and restalk our fridge with water and drinks, at not cost of course.
We spent alot of time at the pool and at the beach and of course eating. There are 8-10 different places to eat. So of course we tried them all. The food was good everywhere we ate. They had Italian, Japanese, French, and American resturants. All of them were great.
Doug dove two different days. I had a cold and cough while I was there so I didn't feel up to diving. The second day Doug dove he said was really good. Just as good as Cozumel. I felt bad I missed out.
The last day we were there we took out a Hobie Kat. It was so much fun. The water is so clear there that you can see the fish in the water without even going under.
It was the very best vacation I have been on.
Oh, one more thing. After we had been there for a day or two, when we got back to our room, there was an envelope stating that they were going to refund us one nights stay! We couldn't believe it. They were so good to us. We will never forget this vacation! I would recommend them highly to everyone. We would really like to go back someday.
